About the Blog

Dear reader,

Welcome to my blog! This blog will be about  the Amazing Announcements of my life.

First of all, thank you Mrs. Yollis for giving me my amazing blog. You are a superb teacher.

Here are some of my interests:

My favorite subject is microbiology. My favorite microorganism is the tough, tardigrade.

My favorite color is pink. I like it because it is so vibrant.

My favorite sport is ice hockey. I also play travel hockey.

I also have two amazing fire - bellied toads. They are a mildly poisonous species.

  1. Dear Mitochandria,

What a fabulous blog you have put together! I love how you have linked your blog to our class blog and our 365/366 blog. Well done!

I also wish to thank you for the kind words. I think you are a superb student! You have an interest in learning and that is exciting.

Like you, I enjoy the occasional mint chip scoop. However, when German Chocolate Cake ice cream is in season at Baskin-Robbins, I love a GCC shake!

I would love to see you write about adventures you are having, subjects you are learning about, and maybe some poetry!

What is your favorite part about blogging?

    Your proud teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

  4. Aaron, mint chocolate chip is among our favorites too. I will make sure there is some in the freezer the next time you visit. Perhaps you can read a little of a Wrinkle in Time to Ollie.

    1. Dear Ollie,

I hope you start reading A Wrinkle in Time. It is a very good book that is full of action and adventure. When I first started reading it I felt all of the emotion. In my opinion, it really hooks you in. You can even borrow my copy if you don't have one.

There are a lot of different books, but not many are as magnificent as this one.

  5. Hello mitochandria16,

I found your first blog post fascinating to read. Having been a university (college) science graduate with majors in biology and psychology I was interested in your choice of microbiology.

Seeing your photograph of a tardigrade, I looked up the species and found, according to Wikipedia, them to be hardy and able to withstand very low temperatures (−458 °F; −272 °C) and up to high temperatures (300 °F; 150 °C) for periods of time.

While I don't yet have the ability to photograph microorganism, I do try to photograph small animals using macro adapters on my camera. My favourite photos include a spider in its web. The spider was only 2 to 3 mm (0.08 to 0.12 inches) in length which would be about 4 to 6 times larger than a fully grown tardigrade.

Your book favoruites also suggest an interest in science. Keep up the interest. Science helps us unlock the mysteries of the world around us.

    1. Dear Ross Mannell,

I agree with you. Science does help us discover the world.

Did you know that the Tardigrade is the only animal that can survive in space. They can go for months without food or water. They are known as the toughest animals on earth.

Microbiology is a very fun subject, and we've only discovered very few of the number of species. In fact, we are all made of microorganisms.

What is your favorite microorganism, and why?

  6. Hello Aar♥n,

Perhaps a favourite of mine would be a paramecium. This single celled species was one of the first early microbiologists saw that had a flagellum to help it move. It was also one of the first unicellular organisms I had seen under a microscope.

What a fascinating blog you have put together! I too like pink and all the other neon colors.

think it is interesting that you are so intrigued in reptiles. I am not interested in reptiles, however I do find them quite impressive!
